What metadata can reveal
A PDF can expose Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer, CreationDate, and ModificationDate even when none of those values appears on a page. Authoring software may also attach a separate XMP packet to the document catalog. This information can identify a person, organization, workflow, or editing history.
How browser-based cleaning works
The PDF cleaner loads the document locally with a browser PDF library. It removes the standard Info dictionary fields and the catalog XMP reference, saves a new file, and opens that output again. The verification pass confirms that the page count is unchanged and that supported target fields are no longer detected.
How to remove the metadata
Choose a non-encrypted PDF under 25 MB, inspect the values before changing anything, and keep the original file as a backup. After cleaning, compare the reported fields and page count, then open the downloaded PDF to confirm that pages, links, forms, and visible content still behave as expected.

Verification and important limits
Password-protected and encrypted PDFs are rejected. Comments, annotations, attachments, form values, JavaScript, prior revisions, object-level metadata, and application-specific structures are outside this cleaner’s guarantee. For legal, forensic, or regulated documents, use a specialist sanitization workflow and review the result manually.
Choose the right cleanup workflow
